Awesome things happening in your Beef Reproduction class. Levi Troudt is a third year student and that has given us a unique opportunity. He earned his Elanco Fundamentals of Animal Science Certification! By earning this certification, he has shown mastery of the following industry standards produced by Elanco: General Animal Science, Animal Breeding, Animal Health & Wellness, Animal Nutrition, and Animal Management Practices. He will also spend the remainder of the semester heat syncing, breeding and ultrasounding the program's cattle. Congrats to Levi!!!!

Mr. Kimmel teaching a bovine genetic makeup lesson to the fifth graders during our science time. Students learned about genotype/phenotype and different cattle breeds. This lesson reinforces what they learned about dominant and recessive traits.
Congrats to our freshman!! They completed BIG (Becoming Involved as a Greenhand) Confernece today!! We hope you continued to strive as FFA members and achieve everything you set out to do! 😊

Before spring break, the Kindergarteners and 2nd graders learned about "The Carnival of the Animals" by Camille Saint-Saens in music class. At the end of the unit, we made or own animal masks and put on a carnival of our own. The private YouTube links are below if you want to watch their Carnivals!

WCLA to Award $6,000 in College Scholarships
The Weld County Livestock Association (WCLA) will award three $1,500 college scholarships and the $1500 Sharon and Gene Inloes Scholarship for the 2021-22 academic year.
All current high school seniors or college freshmen who are Weld County, Colorado, residents are invited to apply. Applications and requirements can be found at https://www.weldcountylivestock.com/scholarships. Deadline for application submission is April 15, 2021.
WCLA, an affiliate of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, was founded in 1943 with the mission of strengthening the livestock industry in Weld County through youth education, scholarships and producer events. It is also the voice of livestock producers from Weld County, providing input and leadership on policy at the local, state and national levels. Membership is open to all Weld County residents.
Funds for the WCLA scholarship program are primarily raised through the annual calf auction held at Producers Livestock and the Family Ranch Rodeo, which is held in September at the Southeast Colorado Fairgrounds in Keenesburg, Colo. For Rodeo participant and sponsorship information, or WCLA membership information, visit https://www.weldcountylivestock.com or email d.jackson@what-wire.com.

With 15 toothpicks, 15 note cards, and elmer's glue (welding rod), the enrichment class was tasked to make a bridge that held the container of 100 pennies. Here, the third attempts were an overwhelming success. How fun to watch students amend, change, improve the build until success was achieved.
