Monday Mindset
Dear Parents and Guardians, When we left school a week ago for spring break not many of us thought we would be saying goodbye for over a month. The Corona Virus has definitely altered the course of the school year among other things. Our community is made up of hard working families and I have no doubt that as a community we can turn this challenge into an opportunity. Our staff has been training on blended learning (E-Learning and Distance Learning) for the past two years and we are ahead of the curve for facing a situation such as this one. Will it be perfect? Doubtful. Will we need to tweak it as we go to better suit students and their families? Absolutely! Communication will be key to the success of this program. Let's work together for our students. Let's set the bar for how schools, students, and communities can persevere in the face of this adversity.Â
I will be emailing out more information today. If you are not getting emails from me, please email me at tpiel@prairieschool.org right away.
Friday Mindset
Prairie School Nutrition Services:Prairie School will offer both breakfast and lunch for any child up to 18 years old- free of charge. Bagged meals will be available for pickup in a "Grab and Go" drive-through style for families to pick up and take home. The pick-up point will be at two locations. One of the locations will be at Stoneham Community Building from 10:00-10:15 and the second location will be at the New Raymer Community building from 10:45-11:00. The meals will begin on Monday, March 23, and again on Wednesday, March 25, at the same time. The Monday/Wednesday schedule will continue until school resumes. You can remain in your car and staff will get the food to you. There will be enough in the bags for two days for breakfast and 2 days for lunch. We would like to get an idea of how many will take advantage of the breakfast and lunch so we know how much food to prepare. Please email Tabitha Piel at  tpiel@prairieschool.org to let me know if you would like to pick up food, which location, and how many children at your earliest convenience?
If families are in need of lunches and breakfasts that do not live in our area, they may go to the following website to see the meals that are provided for students at different locations: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/publish?EQBCT=eaae70d787a643b59359fe09e99b88d1Â Â

Dear Parents/Guardians,WIth the situation regarding Covid-19, Governor Jared Polis issued an executive order that suspends in-person instruction at all public and private schools from March 23 to April 17, 2020, which includes Prairie School. The administration and teachers will be meeting on Monday the 23rd to discuss educational opportunities through distance learning for students during the closure. During the week of March 23rd-March 26th our teachers will be preparing for implementation of distance learning for Prairie Students which we expect to begin on March 30th.  Prairie staff will be in contact with you regarding plans for the start of instruction sometime next week. We are currently working through the process of being able to provide meals for students 18 and under if needed. More information to follow in the upcoming week regarding this matter.Â
With our school closure: - All school-related activities and events scheduled during the closure will be canceled or postponed. - CHSAA has suspended all spring sports and activities until April 18th.- All non-school related events scheduled to take place in our buildings will be canceled.- Bookmobile will be cancelling all stops until April 9th. - All school buildings will continue to be cleaned and sanitized.- State testing for the 2019-2020 school years have been cancelled.   - We will share information as soon as it becomes available so everyone can plan accordingly. Â

Spring Break
Wax Museum was great fun on Friday, March 13th, 2020. The high school students really enjoyed talking with the elementary students. :)
What a fun filled day the second graders had on Friday learning about animal biodiversity and adaptations! We spent some time reading about different animal teeth and how they can help animals survive, learned about physical adaptations by exploring various bird beaks, and created bird house prototypes.
